Stop veggies from going on strike. Timing is everything when you harvest beans, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, and okra.
Don’t leave even one overripe vegetable on the plant because that can trigger a chemical that discourages blossoming – and vegetable production. Check plants every other day during the growing season to make sure you harvest everything on time. This may mean you pick a few vegetables before you need them, so have a plan for what to do with extras.
